Larry was born on July 4, 1938, in Paris, Tennessee, to the late Denson and Earlene Brown McFadden. A graduate of Anniston High School, he attended Jacksonville State University, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in Okinawa. Larry retired from Bessemer-Carraway Medical Center where he served for many years as the business office administrator.
He is survived by his wife, Gail McFadden; daughters Myra McFadden of Birmingham and Marsha Mitchem (David) of Helena, stepsons Fred Lipscomb (Nancy) of Clanton, and Jeff Lipscomb (Michelle) of Statham, Georgia. He is also survived by granddaughters Katie Billings (Jacob), Amanda Ballesteros (Jose), and grandsons Kevin Weaver (Amy), Chad Weaver, Lee Mitchem, Jason Lipscomb (Sara), Ian Lipscomb and Scott Lipscomb, and several great-grandchildren. He is survived by siblings Ross Skolnick (Phyllis) of Longview, TX, and Mikalene Wood (Shawn) of Hurst, TX.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 10:15 a.m. at the Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, Alabama, with Chaplain Mike Gatch officiating. Viewing for family only will occur prior to the service at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
