Larry Michael Mains

Larry Michael Mains, 65, of Hoover, AL passed away February 28, 2015. He was born in Yakima, Washington on August 2, 1949. Larry graduated from Parkside High School in Jackson, Michigan and received a BSIE from the General Motors Institute. He married to Jo Ann on July 3, 1971. Larry retired from a career at General Motors after 32 years of dedicated service. He was a faithful member of Mountaintop Community Church and prior to that, spent 25 years as a dedicated member of the People's Church. He was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, engineer, teacher, story teller, craftsman, historian, giver, friend, and a passionate follower of Christ. Larry is survived by his sons, Michael Mains and Scott (Angela) Mains; his buddy dudes, Clayton and Cooper Mains; his many brothers and sisters, Jackie Atkinson, Rodney, Wesley, Paul, and Jimmy Oppel, Randy and Clayborn Mains, Sue Smith, and Emory Mains. He is preceded in death by his brother Johnny Oppel. The funeral services will be held at Mountaintop Community Church on Friday, March 6th at 1:30pm with the visitation starting one hour prior. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to either Mountaintop Community Church's Habitat for Humanity Project, or to The People's Church in Franklin, TN, to the Adziwa Project, both in honor of Larry Mains.
