He leaves to cherish sweet memories his sons, Kenneth Walter Champlin of Arcadia Oklahoma, David Champlin-Nelson of Eufala Oklahoma and Scott Joseph Champlin of Baytown, Texas; his daughters, Karen Champlin-Austin of Montrose, Colorado and Misti Wriston of Mustang, Oklahoma; his loving fiancé, Peggy Mayo of Birmingham, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Marie Toler-Champlin; his parents, Clyde F. Champlin and Dorothy Lee Manley; his sister, Patricia Lorita Letcher-Hill.
Kenneth worked at SW Bell servicing the Payphones ( Collecting coins etc.) Later, he was drafted into the Marine Corp. in 1965 and was trained as a communication expert and was honorably discharged. He begin in sales at SW Western Bell, eventually becoming regional sales manager at AT&T where he retired after being transferred to several states in including Texas and Florida, ending in Alabama where he became a successful realtor at Reality South in Birmingham, Alabama. He worked with Reality South until he retired just recently. He was a member of First Christian Church of Birmingham, Alabama were he volunteered and was on the mission council. He was past president of the Mercedes Club of Alabama. He volunteered at Grandview Hospice and he was President of his Home Owners association. Kenneth also volunteered at the Barber Vintage Motorcycle Museum as motor cycles was also an earlier passion of his. He will be missed dearly by family and friends.
A visitation for Kenneth will be held Monday, June 22, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124 followed by a graveside service at Southern Heritage Cemetery at 1:00 PM. A live stream of the graveside service will be on the Southern Heritage Funeral Home Facebook page. The live stream will begin at 1:00 pm on Monday, central standard time.
