Kelly M Cash

She is survived by her parents, Gene and Leslie Cash; her brother Kevin (Allison) Cash; aunts and uncles, Joe and Ginger Cash, Martha Cash, Steve and Katie Sanders, Kelly Toles, Brian Toles and Brad and Teresa Toles; cousins, Emily Toles, Mike (Abby) Cash, Sandy Arrington, Chris (Kristy) Cash, Tim (Cassidy) Cash, Kim Vincent, Nathan (Katlyn) Cash, Thomas Sanders and Olivia Sanders and nieces and nephews of the heart including Caroline and James. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ray and Sue Toles and Grady and Nell Cash and her uncle, Jimmy Cash.

Kelly was born in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from Oak Mountain High School in 2001, attended Samford University, where she pledged Alpha Omicron Pi, and graduated from Auburn University in 2007. She recently completed all of her coursework for her Master’s Degree from Jacksonville State University, maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

Since graduation, Kelly has worked at Green Valley Elementary School in Hoover, AL as a teaching assistant in both special education and her beloved “PE land.” She loved children of all ages, but her heart belonged to babies, having served in the Lakeside nursery since the age of 12. She was lovingly referred to as the “baby whisperer.”

Kelly has been actively involved in missions through her work at WorldSong Camp and projects in Guatemala, Latvia, Brazil, and Mexico; Utah, California, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Oklahoma. She also served for a time as assistant to the Children’s Minister at Grace Baptist Church, Oxford, AL.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 9th, 2016 at 11:00 am and visitation will be Thursday, September 8th from 5:00-8:00 pm. at Lakeside Baptist Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kelly’s life.

The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff of the Heart Transplant ICU of UAB for the love and friendship they freely gave to both Kelly and her family during her 6 month stay. One of the best ways to honor Kelly is by becoming an organ donor, the need is great.
