Maw enjoyed fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, reminiscing about Alberta’s cooking and Atlanta Braves baseball. She worked full-time until she retired at the age of 70. After retirement she enjoyed chauffeuring her friends and neighbors to and from doctor’s appointments as well as having monthly luncheons with the “Do-Nothing” Club. She was a supporter of the Friends of the Hoover Public Library. However, the thing she was really famous for was her baking, especially her brownies and pound cakes.
There will be a celebration of life in the chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., with a short service to follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you perform an act of kindness toward another in remembrance of her.
Maw was preceded in death by her husband, Joe S. Hanson. She is survived by her sons John N. Hanson (Patricia), Joe L. Hanson (Lynn) and grandchildren Heather Abston (David), Leighanna Pillgram-Larsen (Jens) and Colin Hanson (Liz) and 6 beautiful great-grandchildren.
