Joseph Matthew English

ENGLISH, JOSEPH MATTHEW, age 85, native and life-long resident of the Birmingham, Alabama area, passed away Friday evening, October 19, 2012. A U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, "Joe" was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Birmingham with 30 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pelham, Alabama for over 30 years. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and John English; brothers, John, Edward, Jim, and George English; and sisters, Elizabeth Vogan and Edith Taylor. Survivors include Joe's wife of 54 years, Frances P. English; son, Matthew Keith English; daughter, Janelle Leigh English; and many nieces and nephews Joe loved very much. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2012 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham, with Dr. Mike Shaw officiating. Burial, Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
