Dell and I were so sad when we received the news that Uncle John had passed. We knew he hadn't been well but I suppose we hoped he would get better and be stronger then ever.My first recollection of Uncle John was at about three years old on a beautiful summer day when he and Jane came to visit us.My Mother, his sister, and my sisters and I were so excited to know they were coming. That feeling of happiness has always stayed with me. Uncle John you have been and always will be missed.

I always remember the excitement of going to visit Uncle John and Aunt Jane when they would come up to Illinois and stay with Aunt Mil for a time every year.  Aunt Jane was beautiful in so many ways, gracious, soft-spoken and properly southern.  You could always see how much in love her and Uncle John were.  He was kind and funny, always smiling and telling a story or two.  It was always a pleasure to listen to him and my mom talk about their youth.  As I got older and had my own children I came to appreciate and respect Uncle John in new ways.  He loved the Lord and served Him by ministering to the youth and in other ways at his church, and then, lovingly, to Jane as she aged and needed him more than ever.  He understood completely what grace had done for him and he was gracious to all he encountered.  I don't know what his favorite hymn or verse was but it probably had something to do with grace because he epitomized it and lived it out in real ways.  My sisters and I will always be thankful that we could know him and call him uncle.

Love you Uncle John and all the stories of you and grandma and the others growing up. I am so happy we spend the last couple vacations together and even got you tubing on the boat at 84 yrs old!! What a great man.

Mr. Lindquist, you were one of the finest, kindest men I ever knew. I will miss seeing your face and talking with you at Lakeside. Over the thirty-five years we had gone to church together there, I always looked forward to running into you.  We always ended up laughing. You were  a fine man in every respect of the word, an exceptionally devoted husband to Miss Jane, and the most gracious, pleasant person to be around. I know your reward is great in heaven.  It broke my heart to find out just today, that you had passed, and I couldn't even pay my respects at your funeral.  I am blessed to have known you. You will be so missed.
