Visitation will be from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL.
Jimmy was born and raised in Gadsden, AL and attended Southside High School, where he was on the football and basketball teams. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served for four years until his honorable discharge. He then worked for Republic Steel and Cox Craft briefly before his employment from 1962-2003 at Buffalo Rock Bottling Company. With 41 years of service, he retired from Buffalo Rock as vice president of production.
Jimmy did not stop working after retirement. He remained a consultant of operations for Milos Tea for nine years, and was well-loved and respected by his co-workers and friends.
Jimmy was a loving and devoted husband of 56 years to Wanda B. Wolfe. He also was an incredible father and Paw Paw to his three daughters and eight grandchildren.
Jimmy loved hunting, Auburn football, and being with his family. He was known to his family as "Mr. Fix-It."
Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, C.H. and Annie M. Wolfe, and one brother-in-law, Lloyd Lee Christopher. He leaves, to cherish his beautiful memories, his wife, Wanda; daughters, Mickey Armstrong (Eddie), Dana Jennings (Jeff), and Roni Marcum (Tom); sisters, Patsy Coker (Bobby) and Iris Christopher; and grandchildren, Jay Armstrong, Brian Armstrong, Zach Armstrong, Parker Jennings, Riley Jennings, Ben Marcum, Matt Marcum, and Emma Marcum. Survivors also include a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who all have their own wonderful memories of such a fine, dedicated man.
When Jimmy was told he had about two weeks left here on earth, he said, "Well, it is what it is. I don't want to leave, but I have a better place to go to."
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Children's Hospital of Alabama, www.childrensal.org/donate.
