Visitation will be Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 3-4 p.m. at Meadow Brook Baptist Church, 4984 Meadow Brook Road, Birmingham, AL 35242, followed by A Celebration of Jesse's Life at the church at 4 p.m.
Jesse graduated from Micro High School and attended The University of Florida. It has to be said he was never a Gator fan; his allegiance was always with the Seminoles of Florida State.
Jesse faithfully served in the United States Air Force, serving last at Tyndall AFB. He then began a successful and fulfilling 30-year career with Chevron Corporation, retiring in 1991. His career took his family on many moves from Panama City, Florida, to Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Montgomery, Alabama, Columbus, Georgia, and Birmingham. He and Joan enjoyed his retirement years living on the bay in Lynn Haven, Florida.
Jesse was married to his best friend and sweetheart, Joan Culbreth Parker, for 49 years. After Joan's passing, Jesse moved to Birmingham to be closer to his daughters. He was happiest when surrounded by family. His daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his world. He was a faithful member at Meadow Brook Baptist Church and enjoyed many trips with his senior group. Jesse’s faith and love for the Lord was evident in his daily life.
In addition to Joan, Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Rosker and Robeary; brothers, Wadell, Bo, and Frank Parker; and sister, Sarah Thorne. Survivors include Jesse's daughters, JoLynne “Peaches” (Jeff) Wilson and Rachael (Scott) Black; grandchildren, Catherine (Michael) Schmidt, Allie Black, Parker (Jessica) Black, Caleb (Emily) Wilson, and Bailey Black; great-granddaughters, Finley Schmidt and Ellie Black; brother, Bobby (Mary Ann) Parker; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jesse will be deeply missed, but there is no doubt that he was greeted at heaven’s gate with “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.SouthernHeritageFunerals.com for the Jesse's family.
