Jason was born in San Antonio, Texas and enjoyed an adventurous childhood playing soccer, riding anything on two wheels, roller blading through downtown, and having fun with his childhood friends. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1989. Jason also attended University of Texas in San Antonio.
Jason enjoyed spending his time outdoors, whether it was running his Lawn Service Company on the weekends, playing tennis, running through the backyard playing soccer with his son, working on his vehicles, mountain biking, or watching the waves at the beach, these were truly his happy places. Spending time with his family and friends were of the up most importance. Jason will always be remembered as a kind, smart, gentle, and courageous spirit.
Jason is survived by his loving wife of 6 ½ years, Emily; Son, Andrew; Father, Harry Akin; brother, Justin Akin and wife Yari; sister, Amanda Akin; uncle, Jim Akin; nephew, Dylan; nieces, Bailey, Brenda, and Emily; Cousins, Peri, Janice, and family, Jeff Farrell; Debra Belair and her husband Mark, along with their children Kelsey, Jacob, Lindsey. The Bynum family and many friends; Elizabeth Akin, Andrew and Austin’s mother. He is preceded in death by son, Austin and mother, Brenda Bynum Akin.
We would like to thank Dr. Benjamin Jones and staff at Grandview Cancer Center. As everyone at Grandview valued Jason as family. Thank you to Comfort Care in Pelham for their amazing supportive team. Thank you to our friends and co-workers at BMW of Birmingham for their support. Finally, thank you to the Army Residence Community in San Antonio, TX, where Jason worked 22 years, met many lifelong friends, enjoyed serving the residents, and meeting his best friend and wife Emily. Together they were a perfect pair.
