James Eugene Hodges

Gene was born December 10, 1941 to Wallace Eramus and Eleanor Singletary Hodges in Kentwood, Louisiana. Gene was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Richard Wayne Hodges, and son-in-law, Edgar James Meche, Jr.

Gene is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Hodges; son, James Eugene Hodges, Jr. (Cindy) of Rome, GA; daughter, Deborah Meche of Chelsea; son, Donald Ray Hodges (Christine) of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Timothy Hodges, David Hodges, Sarah Cehand, Ellie Meche, Megan Hodges and Andrew Hodges; sister, Donnis Geter of Slidell, LA; and 5 great grandchildren.

Gene enjoyed playing golf and watching LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints football games. In 2004, Gene retired from Nova Chemical, Bayport, TX.

Gene served in the U.S. Navy and will be laid to rest in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association (apdaparkinson.org).
