Lawrence had a long relationship with the Lord, his family, and a multitude of friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alabaster where he served as a deacon for many years. He was in charge of the men's brotherhood breakfast and 4th of July barbeques at the church for which he was always proud to serve. He was a giver of unconditional love and joy. He had a sweet spirit and showed kindness that will forever be remembered by those who love him. His greatest love and accomplishment was that of his family. His mission was nothing short of "I love yous" from Wormie. He married the love of his life, Linda Holcombe, on November 7, 1960. Together they had two children, Valerie and Mark. Lawrence was a family man whose goal was for his family to have the best life possible and he worked hard to achieve this goal. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, coaching little league baseball, and winning championships! He loved cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Braves and was a charter member of the "FUN BUNCH".
He was the president of the Thompson Quarterback club for 5 years where he lead various fundraisers and worked tirelessly to build a field house for the team. He was proud of his military service with the United States Army and then 20+ years with the National Guard. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge where he was a two time past master and also a member of the Grand Lodge for the state of Alabama. Lawrence Barnett was a man who was loved and respected by all who knew him and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched. He is survived by his daughter Valerie Barnett (Mick) Springer, son Mark (Sharee) Barnett, grandchildren Ashlee (David) McLaughlin, Haley (Chris) Walker, Jadey (Brooke) Barnett, and Corey Barnett, Jack & Cora McLaughlin & Blakelee & Nolan Walker and a host of great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
