Helen graduated from Keene State College with her undergraduate degree in Education. Her professional career spanned several years as an elementary school teacher with the U.S. Department of Defense on several military bases throughout the country. In her leisure, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cheering for the Auburn Tigers football team, and travelling.
Helen married John Haynes Barnhart in October 1966, and they were about to celebrate 51 years of marriage when he passed away in 2017. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force as Full Colonel.
Helen is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca Barnhart Purvis (James) and Sarah Barnhart McGuire (Chris); three grandchildren, Makenzie Rebecca McGuire, Evan Christopher McGuire, and John Alan McGuire; and her twin brother, John Jamrog.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 18, 2023 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Montevallo, Alabama from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m., followed by A Service of Remembrance for Helen at 1:05 p.m. at the church.
