Harold B. Rigsby, age 93, of Birmingham, AL passed away on April 5, 2020. He was born to Genoa and Pearl Rigsby in Cicero, IN on March 7, 1927. Harold graduated high school from Indiana Academy, where he enjoyed every moment learning math. After high school, Harold continued his education and graduated with a doctoral degree from the University of Hard Knocks. Harold began his career by joining his father, whom was a stone mason, at Rigsby & Son’s Construction. Harold’s drive and determination led him to success in starting his own transportation company, H.R. Lines, Inc., in the 1960’s. Harold remained in the transportation industry until the 1980’s. At this stage in life, most people would have retirement on their mind. Outside of his Sabbath, relaxation was not in Harold’s vocabulary. In the 1980’s he started a new and most beloved career, taking him back to his construction roots, with LEC Properties, in Birmingham, AL where he worked until the age of 90. Harold was devoted to his faith, he was a member of Birmingham First Seventh-day Adventist Church, and attended Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church. A position he held close to his heart was being an Elder in his church. Harold had 3 children with his wife and high-school sweetheart, Mary. They were married for 25 years before she lost her battle with cancer. Harold later remarried an old high school friend, and his biggest fan, Elsie. Harold and Elsie loved to travel,spend time at the lake and especially loved their dogs. They shared their faith and unwavering love for Harold’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were married for 27 years before Elsie’s passing. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Genoa and Pearl Rigsby; wife and mother of his children, Mary Louise Benge; wife, Elsie Janice Spinks; brother, Dr. Robert Rigsby (Joyce); son, Donald Dee Rigsby "Donnie"; grand-daughter, Sarah Carmen Crawford. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister Dorothy Galbraith (Fred); children, Harold Dean Rigsby “Butch”(Janice) of Birmingham , Kathy Louise Rigsby of Pell City; grand-children, Christina Rigsby Nawrocki (Derrick) ,Harold T. Rigsby "Toby" (Brittany) great-grandchildren, Coby and Anna Nawrocki, Hayden and Jackson Rigsby,Austin Moye (Jayce), Tori and Trey Franklin. Honorary family, Alan Engel (Lisa), Laura Wynn (Joel).
Due to Covid-19 the family will have a private graveside service in his honor. Pastor Leroy Abrahams will be officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Elijah Radio at 1435 Woodland Ridge Road, Odenville, AL 35120
