Harold was retired from American Cast Iron Pipe Company. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served at U.S. Naval Air Station in Sanford, FL, and aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Ranger CVA-61.
Harold was born to Thurman L. and Blanche Annette Helton Reid on October 13, 1937, in Birmingham, AL. He was a graduate of the Class of 1956 from Jones Valley High School.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Blanche Reid; wife of 52 years, Sarah Jane Gary Reid; and brother, Carl A. Reid.
Harold is survived by two sons, Gregory Allen Reid (Sandra) of Alabaster and Randall Lee Reid (Terry) of Pinson, AL; daughter, Catherine Deann Reid Seckinger (David) of Marietta, GA; nine grandchildren, Erica Barragan (Antonio), Ashley Betke (Matt), Ian Reid, Evan Reid, Audrey Reid (TJ), Adam Reid, Noah Reid, Shelby Reid, and Bailey Reid; seven great-grandchildren, Elijah, Juliette, Georgia, Oliver, Foster, Leo, and Sage; sister, Deborah Lynn Reid York (Bill); and a multitude of nephews, nieces, and close friends. Harold also leaves behind his beloved Yorkie, Elvis.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 6, 2023 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Montevallo, AL, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at the church, 80 St. Thomas Way, Montevallo, AL 35115. The gravesite committal service will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, AL.
