Glenn received his formal education at Homesteads High School in Homesteads, TN. He furthered his education at The University of TN in Knoxville, TN with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Glenn married his high school sweetheart, Garland Dean Butt, on December 12, 1956 in Crossville, TN. Their union was blessed with 4 children.
Glenn proudly served their country in the United States Navy.
He was employed by Rust Engineering as the Manager of Environmental Department. After retiring from Rust, he started H&L Builders specializing in steel-framed homes.
Glenn was a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church for over 34 years.
Glenn was a man of many talents. He was a master gardener, master builder, and was quick to help anyone with a project or problem when needed. He loved dancing with his love of 66 years and working together in their rose garden tending to their many, many rose bushes. He would drop everything at the drop of a hat when his children or grandchildren walked through the door. He loved his family dearly.
Glenn was a member and served in many different organizations. Some of these include Carpenter for Christ (which involved church building, wheelchair ramps and renovation of The Barn at Briarwood), member of Deeper Life, Men of the Covenant, and a member of the Briarwood Choir for 9 years.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, and 2 sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his lovely wife, Garland Dean. 4 children, Donna Ammons (Byron), Glenn Hodge, Jr. (Jennifer), Jeffrey Hodge (Leigh), and Sheri Stephens (Louis).
10 grandchildren, Brent Ammons, Dandi Ammons, Michael Ammons (Hannah), Kotie Brasher (Joey), Chad Stephens, Becca Roebuck (Peyton), Grayson, Presley, Olivia, and Dylan Hodge. 5 great-grandchildren, Summer and Holden Roebuck, Eva Ammons, Bella and Sophia Brasher.
4 siblings, Gena Turner, Tony Hodge, Sandra Green, and Linda Pharris.
Visitation will be held at Briarwood Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, March 14th, 2023 at 12pm followed by service at 1 and reception at 2. A private graveside service will be held at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
