She was born on April 18, 1943, in Mobile, Alabama to the late Adolph Ernest LaGrave and Sylvester Frances “Frankie” Raybon LaGrave. Fran attended Bishop Toolen Catholic High School, and then enrolled at Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing and the University of South Alabama. She was a nurse at Mobile Infirmary Hospital, Providence Hospital, various private duty roles, nursing homes, and correctional facilities. After retiring, she spent her time reading, doing puzzles, playing cards, and keeping up with the news. Fran was a member of the Church at Brook Hills.
She is preceded in death by her son, David Wayne Fail. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Phaedra Fail Galloway (Rickey) and her son, Mark Alva Miller (Dana); six grandchildren, Seth Hagan; Rosalie Hagan; Jessica Hagan; Annika Galloway; Mary-Grace Miller; and Isabella Miller. She is also survived by her brother, Philip Adolph LaGrave (Carol) and nephews and niece, Joe LaGrave (Mel); Keri LaGrave Leon; and Paul LaGrave.
A celebration of Fran’s life will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 3:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm.
