Elsie Moses Ray

She was born on July 15, 1930, to Reuben Charles Moses and Catherine Moses. Elsie was a graduate of Jones Valley High School and a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church. On November 8, 1953, she married Elijah F. Ray, Jr. and their union was blessed with two daughters. Elsie retired as an administrative assistant at Samford University after more than 10 years of service.

In her leisure time, Elsie enjoyed traveling to various locations with her family and later enjoyed traveling with her husband on an Alaskan cruise.

Elsie was preceded in death by her father, Reuben Charles Moses; mother, Catherine Johnston Moses; two sisters, Della Mae Moses; and Bertha Lee Moses; and her brother, Reuben Charles Moses, Jr. (Bubba).

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of almost 68 years, Elijah F. Ray, Jr.; and her two daughters, Esther R. Quinn and Deborah R. Box (Bill).

Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Friday, May 14, 2021, from 10:00 – 11:00 am with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
