Ella Jo Conine was born on February 13, 1943 to the union of Jesse James and Dorothy Chance in Fort Worth, TX. Jo received her formal education at Fort Worth public school system. She furthered her education at Technical school as a CPS certified professional secretary in Fort Worth, TX. Ella Jo Chance was married to William D. Connie III on January 6, 1962 in Fort Worth, TX. She also attended Arlington State College for two years, now known as University of Texas Arlington. Jo was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, AL. She held many positions as school secretary while her children attended school there, as they had to move quite a bit for Bill's job with Mobil Oil Corp. In her leisure, she enjoyed her church and many friends there, gardening, playing piano and singing. She had a love for several different crafts as possible, travelling the world and of course her family, especially her 4 grandchildren.
Ella Jo was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Conine; her parents, Dorothy and Jesse; her grandparents, Howard and Olivia Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Kimberly Conine Morton (Dent) and her son, Christopher Keith Conine; grandchildren, David William Morton (Chelsea), Patrick Miller Morton (Sarah), Margaret Spencer Morton and Benjamin Wilkes Morton (Mattie); great-grandchildren who were so loved, Hallie Katherine Morton (David & Chelsea), Beau Michael Morton (Patrick & Sarah).
Visitation will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church on Friday, April 9, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The family will have a private committal service in Gillett Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to New Hope Presbyterian Church or Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
