Betsy McKay is survived by her children, John (Peggy) McKay, Michael McKay, and Marian (Frank) Rosato; and grandchildren, Vito (Tricia) Rosato, Virlonda (Shane) Gammon, and Michael (Rachel) Rosato. She is also survived by her nieces, Betsy (Jim) Gates and Barbara (Tom) Moschitta; nephew, Charles (Maureen) Maze; as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Laird McKay, Jr.; her father, Charles Harold Memory; her mother, Elizabeth Randolph Dailey; sister, Marian Maze; and nephew, Richard Maze.
Betsy McKay is a graduate of The Woman’s College of The University of North Carolina. She spent her life as a loving and caregiving mother to John, Mike, and Marian. Betsy and her family owned and operated Charlemagne Record Exchange in Birmingham Southside, Alabama from 1977 to 2020. Also, through the years, Betsy served in various capacities as a Girl Scout leader and as a Mental Health Association volunteer. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Homewood, Alabama.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 10 a.m. with the service following at 11 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 110 West Hawthorne Road, Birmingham, AL 35209. Interment will follow the service at Southern Heritage Cemetery at 475 Cahaba Valley Road in Pelham, Alabama. The Rev. Brad Landry will officiate.
The family wishes to thank Amalia Chacon for providing tender loving care to our mom. In addition, we are grateful for the guidance and compassionate attention provided by Enhabit Home Health and Hospice staff. We truly appreciate the members of All Saints Episcopal Church for providing food, love, and encouragement to our family through the years.
