55-year Pelham resident Dorothy (Dot) Collum Johnson, 94, passed away on Dec. 24, 2022. The daughter of the late John William and Essie Lee Atkinson Collum, she was born on Sept. 21, 1928.
Dot was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Alabaster and later the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Austin, TX. She worked for the State of Alabama both at the Shelby County Health Department and at the former West Jefferson Correctional Inst.
Dot was the mother of, and survived by, Roland and Aaron Johnson, Sharon Johnson Orr and Donna Johnson Eyles. Her family included 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.
Dot was also an active member at the Pelham Senior Center, Red Hat Society and Toastmistress Club. She participated in many outreaches and festivities.
Interment at Center Hill Baptist Church in Jemison, AL will be January 10, 2023, 11:00 and a memorial service at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Cahaba Valley Rd. in Pelham will be January 10, 2:00. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please contribute to a local charity.
