Dorothy Helen Riggins Farmer of Birmingham, AL, was born in Charlotte NC on May 5, 1928 and passed from this life on August 27, 2017. Mrs. Farmer grew up and lived her early years in Greenville, SC before moving to Alabama in the late 1960’s. Quickly Mrs. Farmer became an avid Alabama football fan and remained faithful to her love of the sport for the remainder of her life.
Mrs. Farmer was a former member of Green Valley Baptist Church and a current member of Meadow Brook Baptist Church where she was active in various senior activities.
Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by George Farmer, her husband of 65 years; and a daughter, Cindy Olive. Survivors include her son, Dan Farmer (Theresa); and daughters, Page Frey (Shields) and Deborah Delk (David). She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved her.
The celebration of Helen’s life will be at 11 am on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Green Valley Baptist Church Food Bank.
