Dianne graduated in 1956 from Linden High School, where she was homecoming queen. She also earned the titles of Miss Linden and Miss Marengo County, before competing in the Miss Alabama pageant. She attended Goucher College in Towson, Maryland and graduated with a biology degree from Huntington College in 1960.
Dianne briefly taught school in both the Mountain Brook and Vestavia Hills school systems in Alabama, but her true passion was always being a loving wife and mother. After her children were grown, she started a florist business in Vestavia Hills, the “Window Box,” which she successfully operated for a decade.
Dianne has been a member of Riverchase United Methodist Church in Hoover, Alabama for more than 35 years, previously serving in many capacities including worship committee chairman, wedding director, and choir member. She loved music, singing, and old movies, but, most of all, she deeply loved her family.
Dianne is survived by her husband of 63 years, John David Salter, to whom she was married on July 24, 1960; and her two children, David (Diana) and Lori.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Riverchase United Methodist Church, Hoover, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by A Service of Remembrance for Dianne at 11:30 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial donations or contributions be made to Riverchase United Methodist Church, www.riverchaseumc.org.
