David Winston Coggins

David Winston Coggins of Chelsea/Shelby County, Alabama passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the age of 76. He was born February 24, 1947 in Sylacauga, Alabama to Mary Edna and George Winston Coggins.

David graduated from Thompson High School in Siluria, Alabama. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was employed at Hardy Services for 46 years until his retirement on October 31, 2012.

David is survived by his wife, Janice Coggins; son, David Winston Goggins, II (Michelle); grandson, Conor Coggins; daughter, Christy Neaves (Gerald); grandson, Nicholas Neaves; daughter, Dana Oliver (Tommy); grandsons, Matthew (Whittany) and Dylan Oliver; and great-grandsons, Gabriel, Grady, and Bohdy. He is also survived by three sisters, Elois (Lois) Tipton, Margaret Hitt, and Ann Lightsey, and several special nephews, nieces, aunts, and uncle Harold.

The family will receive friends at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. A Service of Remembrance for David will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the funeral home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Later Thursday, June 22, the gravesite committal service will begin at 1:15 p.m. at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL 35115.
