Daniel Galen Watson was met at Heaven's Gates by his grandparents, G and Jenny Watson; Reuben King; and his aunt Pam Brown on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at the age of 39. Celebrating his life on earth are his grandmother, Sarah King; parents, Dave and Glenda Watson; brothers, Gabe Watson (Kim); niece Diane; nephew, David; his younger brother, Michael Watson; Uncle David King (Jean); cousins, Olivia and Benjamin.
Daniel grew up in Bluff Park attending Shades Crest Baptist Church. He attended Bluff Park Elementary, Simmons Middle School, and Hoover High School (Class of 1999). Daniel played baseball at Shades Mountain Ballpark and played JV and Varsity basketball at Hoover. He was a member of the Young Pioneers' Camping Club.
Daniel attended UAB and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He graduated from Jefferson State Community College.
At the time of his death, Daniel worked at the 280 Driver's Way where he was the 2019 Salesman of the Year and had previously worked at Packaging Materials and Supply with his father, Dave and his brother, Gabe.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home 475 Cahaba Valley Rd Pelham, AL 35124. The graveside service will also be Saturday, May 16th and will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Rev. Craig Greer will officiate, and special music will be presented by Abbey Greer.
Active pallbearers will be Gabe Watson, Michael Watson, Jeremy Bearden, Jason Gravelle, Ryan Hanks, and Matt Stuart. Honorary pallbearers will be Diane Watson, David Watson, and Tom Pender. Family and friends unable to attended the graveside service Saturday may view it at 11 a.m. with Facebook Live and the Southern Heritage Funeral Home page.
