Cynthia Jo "Cindy" Simmons Williams left this life for a better place on Friday, November 22, 2013. She was born in Montgomery, AL on October 25, 1953 to mother Jean Rikard and father George Thomas Simmons (deceased) of Birmingham, AL. Survivors include Cindy's mother, Jean; loving son, Todd Williams (Loren Sims); grandson, Tyler Williams; siblings, Wayne Simmons (Tina), Patti Copeland (Henry), Betsy Frazer (Russ), and Tana Britt (Steve); and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Cindy graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1972 and worked as a licensed manicurist. She had a lifelong love of bringing joy to others through laughter. She performed at the Apollo Theater in New York City, and she was a proud graduate of Magic City Clown School. Cindy was a dedicated member of Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She served as secretary and president of Valley View Condominium Board, volunteered with City Stages' Children’s Stage, Lake Villa Assisted Living, the American Red Cross and Disaster Relief Team. The family grieves the loss of this caring, lovable, precious child of God. Rest, Cindy, knowing our love.
