Carl Calvin Martin

He was born in Tahlequah, OK and was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. He was a devoted member of Riverchase United Methodist Church and avid student of the Bible. Carl loved all sports, but especially those where his grandchildren were participating. He had a great respect for nature, enjoyed working outdoors and was a Master Gardener.

He was affectionately known as Poppy to his seven grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, LaVerne and their three children: Molly married to David Rigali and their three children, Matthew, Katie, and Thomas; Cindi married to Tim Fleming and their two children Sam and Jack; Tom and his wife Teri and their two children Cal and Charlie; and his sister, Norma married to DM Parker.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Carl Martin and his brother, Howard Martin.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 10th at 11:00 am at Riverchase United Methodist Church in Hoover, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Riverchase United Methodist Church to benefit Christians Place at Nauvoo.
