Calvin P. Phillips, a long-time resident and business owner in Birmingham, AL, died in San Diego, CA on Friday, October 7, 2016. He was married for 68 years to Annie Fendley Phillips before she passed in 2009.
Calvin and Ann had three sons: Lynn Phillips, married to Susan, living in San Diego; Dennis Phillips, passed in 2004; and Roger Phillips, married to Charlotte, living in Little Rock, AR.
Survivors include Calvin’s 98-year-old sister, Ozell Robbins of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and scores of nieces and nephews.
Calvin was a proud World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a deacon in his church and a member of several civic and social organizations in Birmingham, and he was known for his booming voice and infectious smile. He will be missed by all the people whose lives he enriched.
