On July 15, 2024, Brian Clark Deegan passed away at his home in Pelham, Alabama surrounded by loved ones. After a long three months of fighting, he lost his battle from the effects of Diabetic Ketoacidosis. He was 56 years old.
Brian is survived by his father, James A. Deegan, his loving wife, Stacy Deegan, their six children, Cody (Jessica), Christian, Juliana, Anna, Stevie, and Ashley, and two grandsons, Jacob and Emmett. He is also survived by his brother, James (Toni) Deegan, Jr, his sister Janet (Jeff) Smith, his aunt Eleanor (Ron) Bland, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Deegan, and his grandparents, William and Dorothy Newton, and Joseph & Irene Deegan.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, on August 20, 1967, he was the son of Jim and Wanda (Newton) Deegan. He graduated from Leeds High School in the Class of 1986. Brian excelled as a baseball and football player during his time there, as he did throughout his entire childhood. To no surprise, he earned a baseball scholarship to play at the college level. Unfortunately, he suffered a tragic accident during his senior year of high school that prevented him from pursuing that dream.
By profession, Brian had a very successful career in the Equipment Rental & Sales business. He began as a Sales Representative for Sunbelt Rentals in the late 90’s where he became, and continues to be, a legend, even after having been gone 14+ years. He went on to set sales records and achieve various titles such as Account Manager, Territory Manager, and eventually, Operating Partner, at companies such as Blue Line, Metro Trailer, The Rental Men, and OneSource, in addition to Sunbelt.
Brian had a “larger than life” persona about him, and made sure everyone knew that he was here for a good time and not for a long time. He loved hard, put a smile on everyone’s faces, and would give you the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his wallet if you needed it. He was a self-proclaimed “dog whisperer” by nature and was the happiest with his sidekick, Libby, in his passenger seat. His love for sports led him to coach many years of little league baseball and football. His passion for baseball further led him to become a very well-respected umpire across the state of Alabama. Aside from sports, Brian enjoyed riding dirt bikes, hunting, deep sea fishing, and researching his Irish heritage, among other things.
The family of Brian Deegan will receive visitors on Friday, July 19th, 2024 from 5-7pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama with a funeral service following at 7pm.
