Billy Cooper Kennedy

Billy C. Kennedy, age 93, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022. He was born in Jefferson County, Alabama on August 3, 1928 to Emily Jane Cooper Kennedy and Otto Bamber Kennedy.

Billy graduated from Honolulu High School. During his 12 years in the U.S. Marines, his tours of duty included China and Pearl Harbor as a hydraulic mechanic on aircrafts. His military experience as a carbine sharpshooter encouraged his enjoyment of guns throughout the rest of his life.

Billy was a professional entrepreneur and explosives engineer, owning several businesses including a wholesale electronics supplier.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sue Jesse Kennedy, to whom he was married on October 27, 1951, and his parents. Survivors include one son, John "Kirby" Kennedy (Jami); daughter, Kyle Kennedy McNorton (Craig); grandchildren, David Kirby Kennedy (Kayla), Michael Wayne Kennedy (Kelsey), and Colleen Kaitlyn McNorton; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, January 28, 2022 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124, followed by A Service of Remembrance for Billy at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home's chapel. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Minister Bret Walters will officiate.
