Beverly Perry Perry Wood

Beverly Jean Perry Wood, age 89, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012 in Columbiana, Alabama. The Alta Vista, Kansas native attended Auburn University, where she met her future husband, Ray, who considered her to be his partner in ministry. She later graduated from Samford University in Birmingham and worked for the Social Security Administration until retirement. Mrs. Wood's journey with her husband took them to California and Kentucky, but most of their lives were spent in service to their Lord in Alabama. They are now re-united in His glorious presence. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. H. Ray Wood, and her parents, Clarence and Gladys Perry. Survivors include Mrs. Wood's two daughters, Linda W. Ables (Ed) and Martha Bentley (Mike); two sons, Ronald D. Wood (Lynn) and Paul L. Wood (Beverly); 12 grandchildren, Lorna Ables Reeves, L. Rebecca Ables Miller, Ray Ables, Ralph Ables, Bryan Wood, Alan Wood, Tim Wood, Chris Wood, David Adams, Bethany Bentley Hutton, Brooke Bentley Thornburg, and Jordan Bentley; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marjorie Russin of Silver Springs, Maryland. The family will greet friends 12 noon until the 1 p.m. funeral Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. Burial, Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
