Anne McQueen Marshall, a resident of Shelby, died September 30, 2012. She was 80 years old. Funeral services for Mrs. Marshall will be held at 1:00 pm on October 6, 2012 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, Alabama, with The Reverend Judy Quick officiating. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM, October 5, 2012 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Marshall was born November 8, 1931 near Tallassee, Alabama to Henry McQueen and Annie Ruth Brown McQueen. She grew up in Ashland, Alabama where she attended Clay County High School. After attending Auburn University, she married and lived in Fairfield, Alabama; Baytown, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Marshall has spent the last 26 years in Shelby, Alabama. Affectionately known as “Gooda”, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved and cherished her time spent with her family and friends. She was known for her bubbly personality and her cooking. Mrs. Marshall also enjoyed her late afternoons feeding her birds, sitting outside and watching the sun set. Mrs. Marshall was a member of Columbiana United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Benjamin Franklin McQueen. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, James Marshall, Sr;
sons, James Marshall, Jr. and wife Margaret, Drew Marshall; daughters, Leigh Anne Marshall, Sandra Cason and husband David; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; brother Richard McQueen; and numerous members of her extended family. Memorial contributions may be made to The Boy Scouts of America, Salvation Army, and American Cancer Society.
