Anna Kate Waldrip, 13, was born on July 28, 2010, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, to Todd and Tracy Waldrip. She ran into the arms of Jesus in the early hours of Thursday, August 31, 2023, though her body came to rest on Friday, September 1, 2023, while surrounded by family and loved ones.
Anna Kate had just started seventh grade at Oak Mountain Middle School in Birmingham. She was a member of Valleydale Church and knew Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.
Despite facing significant health challenges throughout her entire life, Anna Kate lived her life to the fullest. She was an incredibly strong girl who never slowed down. She was a kind, loving, caring child who only saw the good in everyone and in everything. She brought joy and happiness to anyone with whom she came in contact, and she was always concerned about others above herself. She loved school, music, travel, arts and crafts, reading, playing with her iPad, anything Disney, and, most of all, her family and friends.
Anna Kate is survived by her father, Todd Waldrip; step-mother, Greta Waldrip; step-brothers, Jack and Thomas Gutshall; grandparents, Robert and Anita Waldrip, and Janice Mattern; uncles and aunts, Chad and Natalia Waldrip, and Will and Alicia Mattern; cousins, Ally and Mary Grayson Mattern; as well as a host of extended family members. Anna Kate's mother, Tracy Waldrip, preceded her in death.
The family will greet friends at Valleydale Church in Birmingham on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 4-5 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service for Anna Kate at 5 p.m. at the church, 2324 Valleydale Road, Birmingham, AL 35244. Before the Celebration of Life Service, Anna Kate's body will be laid to rest at a private, family ceremony at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Anna Kate’s name to the Monroe Carell, Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery. Please click on the link provided below on this page under "DONATIONS."
We find peace in knowing that Anna Kate is completely healed and eternally with our Savior, Jesus Christ.
“Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God…. So we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love. Whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in [her].” 1 John 4:7,16
