Alex Richard Champion, age 27 has found the peace his heart on earth could never find. He left behind a devoted wife of 3 years Denise Marie Champion and an amazing and adorable 2 1/2 year old son, Caleb Sanders Champion. Caleb is a cerebral palsy warrior constantly making leaps and bounds of progress. We can attribute Alex's will to be a loving husband, Godly father, protector and provider from his beautiful parents Donald Richard Champion and Karen Cunningham Champion who are both now enjoying life as grandparents. His early role models and confidantes were his older sisters and brother Amelia Rose Patora (husband Todd), Jessica Leila Champion, Hannah Marie Colburn (husband JD) and his first best friend and partner in crime James Donald Champion. Alex enjoyed being a loyal uncle to his two precious nieces Savannah Mae Champion and Mckenna Shea Champion. Alex was also surrounded by an incredible family and friends all full of love, beauty and strength. He was rooted in the Lord. Growing up, he enjoyed his time in the Hunter Street Baptist Church youth programs. Alex and Denise were building a new faith family in the church at Brook Hills. His days were spent working with his pirate ship band of brothers in the kitchen at Daniel George. He was an amazing sous chef and displayed strong leadership and character for his team. Alex's heart was so full of love towards others. He took great delight in helping and being there for anyone he crossed paths with. In his free time he enjoyed family time, playing computer games with his childhood friends, a group he called the chosen ones, researching anything and everything, cooking for his family and resting. Alex truly was a remarkable man who made the world a better place by sharing his larger than life personality and character. Our hope is for all of us to continue the legacy he began. Visitation will be on Wednesday the 17th from 1-3 pm with a service immediately following at 3:00 pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations. Depression is a terrible disease which fills your heart with a slew of lies and steals your joy and happiness. If you or a loved one is plagued by this horrible disease, please find help. No other loved ones needs to feel the pain we are experiencing. Do not be afraid and find your strength in the Lord.
