Yvonne Jeannette Look

Born on October 11th, 1952 in Peoria to Stanley H. and Betty L. (Roth) Martin, she married Roger Elwood Look on April 14th, 1973 as well as on January 1st, 2003 by The King himself, Elvis Presley. Roger survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Nicole Cartier of Bemidji, MN and Abbigail (Dennis) Slape of Germantown Hills; one grandson, Tiberius Cartier; two granddaughters, Aurelia Slape and Delphine Slape; two sisters, Pam (Steve) Schmidgall of Tremont and Connie (John) Vaughn of Pekin; two brothers, Mike (Lori) Martin of Naples, Florida and Doug (Lori) Martin of Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Melissa Martin.

Yvonne was very proud of many things in her life.

She was a Special Education Teacher and Guidance Counselor at Metamora, Richwoods and other high schools for a collective 41 years, retiring in 2015 and was a founding member of Willow Hill United Methodist Church in Germantown Hills.

Yvonne loved Roger, her girls, and all of her extended family. She enjoyed writing her novel, hosting tea parties for her grandchildren and spending time telling stories with her family and friends and spending time at her cabin in Bemidji, MN. Being able to go out and kayak with her morning coffee while watching the loons on the lake was her favorite pastime next to watching the sunsets on Big Turtle Lake with her family.

The Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Willow Hill Church in East Peoria, IL at 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. with visitation from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. A private burial service will be provided for the family.

Yvonne passionately believed in making sure students have their basic needs met, so please call the main office secretary at a local school and ask how to help assist students who need money for lunches, breakfast or basic daily items like toothpaste and clothing. Despite the affluence of an area, there are always students in need. Memorial Contributions can be made at the Celebration of Life or mailed directly to Metamora Township High School to help these students.
