William Wayne Beebe

GROVELAND ~ William Wayne “Bill” Beebe, 76, of Groveland, passed away at 10:23 a.m. Sunday, September 20, 2020 at UnityPoint Health – Methodist in Peoria. He passed on what would have been his 52nd wedding anniversary.

Born August 7, 1944 in Manito to Rollin A. and Rosie B. (Hall) Beebe, he married Janice Sue “Jan” Gainer on September 20, 1968 in Pekin. She died May 10, 2008 in Groveland.

Surviving are one son, Jeffrey (Lisa Fernandez) Beebe of Groveland; one daughter, Jovie (Joseph) Murtha of Groveland; four grandchildren, Mason Beebe, Chase Beebe, Jill Murtha and Madison Murtha; one brother, Richard (Diane) Beebe of Manito and two sisters, Carolyn Norman of Washington and Beverly Rayburn of Industry.

He was a 1963 graduate of Forman High School in Manito.

Bill worked for CILCO as a lab technician for 35 years, retiring in 1999 from the E.D. Edwards Station

He was a charter member and served 30 years on the board of the Groveland Township Water District.

Bill enjoyed time spent with family and friends, especially being with his Saturday morning coffee group. He loved his dogs, especially his service dog, Gideon. Bill enjoyed watching NASCAR. He also enjoyed listening to music and was a fan of Tom Jones.

Bill had a very strong faith in Jesus Christ and was excited to meet him face-to-face. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin.

His graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Pastor Lauren Padgett will officiate. There will be no visitation. Guidelines regarding social distancing and wearing of masks will be followed. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family with arrangements.
