Born January 12, 1943 in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania, she married Walter P. “Butch” Rivord, Jr. on November 29, 1968 in Fairfax, Virginia. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Walter P. “Wally” (Cherlynn) Rivord, III of Pekin, William P. “Bill” (Lisa Lazar) Rivord of Kewanee and Wesley P. (Amanda) Rivord of Pekin; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, John (Debbie) Ritchey of Huntington, Pennsylvania; one sister-in-law, Norma (Jack) Zaayenga of Pekin and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William G. “Bill” Ritchey.
Vivian worked for the Department of Air Force at the Pentagon as a secretary in earlier years. After raising her children, Vivian worked cleaning homes.
She liked her quiet time reading the Bible and loved attending and teaching Bible studies. Vivian was a longtime member of Bethel Mennonite Church in rural Pekin and attended Town & Country Baptist Church.
She was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling in ladies and couples leagues. She was a very patriotic person and was also fond of animals, especially her rescue dog, Lucky Boy. She was a former member of the Pekin Emblem Club and Pekin Women of the Moose. She also was a former Cub Scout Den Mother.
Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Timothy Ellison will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
