I had the privilege and honor to work with Tom, aka “SFC Cooper” or “Coop”.  We both served in the same Army Unit for over 15 years.  As a leader, he was top notch.  He always helped whoever needed help. No question was ever dumb.  His way of teaching in the military was to show by getting in there and working alongside of his soldiers or he challenged them to get the regulation out and find the answer and then report back to him.   
Not only was Tom, dedicated to the military he was also dedicated to his family.  Anytime he talked about them a big smile would come across his face. Phyllis was the love of his life.  His sons Jason and Eric were his pride and joy.  Once Jason and Eric were married their wives Heather and Amy were his kids too.  He never thought of them as daughter in laws they were his kids too.  And when his grandchildren came along, he was so happy.  He loved each of them so much.  He always beamed with pride whenever he talked about them. 
I’ve known Tom for over 40 years.  We have kept in touch all of those years.   When Phyllis passed away, he took it very hard.  He always talked about how he couldn’t wait to be reunited with her.  I know he is happy and at peace as he is reunited with his soulmate and love of his life.  
Rest in Peace "Coop"  - I will truly miss you.

In the summertime each Sunday would go Outdoors and play catch. A very special brother.

Jason, Eric and families: I was so sorry to learn of Tom's passing. I was so impressed with his dedication to Phyllis and to you his family. Nothing was more important to him from what I observed right from the very beginning when he and your mom first started their marriage and later, as we watched the development of your family.
I know he will be greatly missed as father and grandfather by you, the loves of his life. I am so grateful that Aunt Bev and I were blessed with the opportunity to be a part of this beginning. I have comfort in knowing God has welcomed Tom to join Phyllis (and Aunt Bev) in His heavenly home where there is no more suffering but pure joy.

Tom , Phyllis, my husband and I would meet for lunch about once a month, half way between our homes. It was worth the 50 minute drive to see them together and so happy. When I lost my husband they both called on me every now and then to check to see how I was doing, so kind and thoughtful. When Tom lost Phyllis he and I met for lunch and would reminisce together about the great spouses we were lucky to have.in our lives. I moved to Florida after several years and Tom and I would talk now and then but life had a habit of getting in the way. He would tell me how great his sons and grandkids watched over him and took care of him. He missed Phyllis of course, but was content that he had a caring family. He loved every one of you so much. Never forget that he did!  I am terribly sorry. I too have lost someone special to me.  But I know he's with Phyllis and thats where he's wanted to be for a long while. God bless his loving family.
