Terry Patrick Lanan, age 66, of Kingston Mines was born November 16, 1950 in Peoria to Jack and Zelma Ruth (Neuenschwander) Lanan. He passed away and was released from his pain and suffering on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 10:24 p.m. in Peoria.
God answered his prayers. Our prayers are that he has a home in heaven now with his loved ones. Terry grew up in Kingston Mines. At a young age he was a square dance caller and then became part of a square dance group called the “Little Mavericks”.
He excelled in everything he did. He loved people and had a wonderful sense of humor until the end.
After graduation from high school, he attended classes at Illinois Central College and then began working for Caterpillar, Inc. In 1969 he was drafted into the Army. He was in the 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from Caterpillar, Inc. after 30 years as a consultant.
Terry was a Grand Master with the Masons and also a Shriner. He was also a member of the Glasford American Legion.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jack Lanan, and one granddaughter, Shelby Elizabeth Lanan.
Survivors include three sons: Jack (Tina) Lanan of Glasford, Jason (Brooke) Lanan of Pekin, Morgan (Marcella McMahon) Lanan of Pekin, four grandchildren: Adam, Ryan, Victoria, Julian, two brothers: Michael (Vickey) Lanan of Kingston Mines, Tom (Chris) Lanan of Mapleton, and one sister, Kathy Barrett of Kingston Mines.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kingston Mines Methodist Church. Rev. Nick Jordan will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in Kingston Mines Cemetery with Military Honors.
Memorials may be made to the Kingston Mines Fire Department or Kingston Mines United Methodist Church.
