Born December 27, 1957 in Peoria to William H. and Hila A. (Risius) Button, Jr., she married Daniel Henry Smith on February 16, 1978 in East Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are her five children, Daniel (Shelly) Smith, II of Pekin, Mellissa (Max) Golden of Sebring, Florida, Jennifer (James) Giacometti of Spring Valley, Sarah Harris of Ladd, and Steven (Leslie) Smith of Metamora; twelve grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five sisters, Melody Chambers and Sharon Sellers, both of Creve Coeur, Karen (Michael) Stocke of Pekin, Kathy Morton of Metamora, and Margaret Ann (Mike) King of Peoria; and three brothers, William (Cheryl) Button of Mapleton, Ronald (Cindy) Button of Creve Coeur, and Michael (Lori) Button of Trivoli.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George Button and Paul Button.
Teri was a manager of several area restaurants including the Morton Taco Bell, Pekin Pizza Hut, and Steak n Shake in both Pekin and Peoria. She later was a direct support professional for Horizon House of Illinois in Peru for several years. She last worked as a Dietary Manager at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon, last working in 2016.
Teri enjoyed being on her computer playing online games and Facebook. She was very wise, loved, knowledgeable and independent. Her family was very important to her, especially her grandchildren. Teri was a giving person and was always doing for others.
Her memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. A memorial service will follow.
