She was born August 15, 1937 in Springfield to Harold B. and Lila (Lankford) Jones.
Surviving are one daughter, Gretchen (Bill) Holley of East Peoria; one son, G. Scott (Kristin) Trippel of Glen Ellyn; eleven grandchildren, Aaryn (Brandon) Adams, Kiersten (Spencer) DeLong, Samantha Doss, Jenai (Skyler) Peterson, Joshua Holley, Karis Holley, Ryan Trippel, Abbey Trippel, Haley Trippel, Jake Trippel and Leah Trippel.; four great-grandchildren, Brantley DeLong, Michaela (Chris) Morales, Norah Peterson and Brooklyn Peterson; one sister, Sharon (Tom) Perkinton of Springfield and one brother, David (Donna) Jones of Joplin, Missouri.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Daniel E. Trippel.
She worked as a payroll specialist for Paychex for many years, retiring in 2003.
Sylvia lived in Buffalo, New York for 30 years and was a member of Clarence Church of Christ there. She later attended Eastview Christian Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Spending time with her grandchildren and family was a joy for her. Sylvia loved being a grandmother. She was also an avid reader.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
