Born March 21, 1950, in Racine, Wisconsin to Richard and Marjorie (Gruber) Gartzke, she married Mark Lawler on February 6, 2011 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Jennifer (Tim) Etherton of Florida; one son Stephen (Joyce) Kretschmer of Bloomington; one step-daughter, Kristina (Ben) Funk of Pekin; two step-sons, Daniel Lawler of Pekin and Kevin (Tracy) Lawler of North Dakota; eight grandchildren David, Justin, Caleb, Allison, Dylan, Easton, Caileigh and Foster; one sister, Kathleen Gartzke of Wisconsin and one brother, John (Lisa) Rauk of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sue had worked as a hearing aide consultant at Regneir's Tri-County Hearing Aids later becoming Audible in Peoria and Pekin for 25 years, retiring in 2013.
She was an avid member of the Pekin Boat Club Bowling League and an 18 year member of the Pekin Moose Family Center #916.
A loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, Sue had a helping heart and loved meeting new people. She always knew someone and everyone was her friend. She also loved cooking and watching the Food Network.
A gathering celebrating Sue’s life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Pekin Moose Family Center. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory.
