Born April 2, 1940 in Pekin to Gene and Hazel (Sudberry) Flick, she married Richard “Dick” Heihs on February 14, 1959 in Pekin. He passed away June 13, 2014.
Surviving are one son, Scott (Bridget) Heihs of Largo, Florida and three grandchildren, Chelsea Hornecker, Logan (Gabbreal) Hornecker, both of Pekin and Sydney Heihs of Largo, Florida.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Shelly McDuff, who passed away on July 5, 2020.
A homemaker, Sherry was a doting mother and grandmother and was very proud of her family, especially her grandkids. Polished and very ahead of her time in fashion trends, she was always dressed to the nines and had a fabulous jewelry collection. She loved dogs and cared for many throughout her life. She was an avid NBA basketball fan and enjoyed watching games. Sherry also loved Florida beaches and soaking up the sun. Those who knew her best knew her to be very strong-willed, facially expressive, but yet kind and loving. Although not fond of cooking, she made outstanding potato salad.
The family would like to give tremendous thanks to Reflections Memory Care and Transitions Hospice for their exceptional and loving care.
A gathering celebrating Sherry’s life will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Preston Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Cremation has been accorded.
Memorial contributions may be given to Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 100 TAPS Lane, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
