Ruth E Jones

Born July 5, 1920 in New Berlin to Earl and Augusta (Berndt) Lewis, she married Russell E. Jones on June 25, 1946 in Palmyra, Missouri. He died August 8, 1997 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Loren “Bud” Lewis, Ralph Lewis, and Bob Lewis; and four sisters, Mae Cumby, Rose Prince, Betty Pope, and Barbara Gansbauer.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn (Andy) Anderson of Lake St. Louis, Missouri and Janet (Floyd) Green of Pekin; one son, Chuck (Kay) Jones of Forsyth; two grandchildren, Bryson Heilman of North Pekin and Wendy (Lance) Earhart of Pekin; one great-granddaughter, Haley Heilman; one great-great-granddaughter, Ella; and one brother, James Lewis of Springfield.

A stay at home mother, Ruth’s passion was taking care of her children and family.

She formerly attended First Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church, both in Pekin.

Her funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Brad Martin will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
