He was born November 2, 1944 in Du Quoin to Charles, Jr. and Virginia (Manion) Fred. His parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles E. Fred; one sister, Margie Kay Fred and two nephews, Mark Fred and Corey Marcotte.
Surviving are one daughter, Karen Sadler of Peoria; two sons, Matthew (Tanya Luciano) Fred of Carbondale and Michael (Karlena) Fred of Crescent City; four grandchildren, Shannon (Steven) Hennig of Marquette Heights, Jacob Doyle of Peoria, Alexis Fred and Ryan Fred, both of Crescent City; one brother, Jerry (Sharon) Fred of Bradley and many nieces and nephews.
Ron worked for many years at IGA in Robinson and Palestine, Illinois.
He was a member of the Palestine Lions Club.
Ron was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved to bowl and was a member of several bowling leagues.
A gathering celebrating Ron’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
