Born March 1, 1925 in Redlands, CA to Guy and Mabel (Peterson) Mann, he married Nancy Lee Berry on August 2, 1953 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Sabrina (John) Mathews of Galesburg and Bonnie (Stanley) Schlueter of Washington; one son, Douglas William Mann of Chicago; two grandsons, Andrew Mathews of Chicago and Alexander William Mathews of Hawaii; four step-grandchildren, Michael (Sara) Schlueter, Kristina Armstrong, Jennifer (Rob) VanOrder and Scott (Beth) Schlueter, all of Washington and six step great-grandchildren.
A World War II veteran, he served in the United States Air Force. He was a charter member of Benson American Legion Post 454.
He worked for WABCO for over 30 years, retiring in 1985. He worked in Time Study.
Roger was a big Chicago Sports fan and also was a fan of University of Kentucky sports teams. He loved his Lhasa Poo, Emmy Lou. He enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing.He was a member of Creve Coeur Christian Church, where his passion was serving as the director of its food bank.
Roger will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2012 at Creve Coeur Christian Church. The Rev. John E. Plunkett will officiate. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes before the service at the church. Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
