Born December 17, 1951 in Peoria to Charles Robert and Mary Katherine (Roser) Pyle, he married Elizabeth “Jane” Mann on May 15, 1976 at the First United Methodist Church in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey (Melissa Neely) Pyle of St. Charles, Missouri and Scott (Mandi) Pyle of Morton and one granddaughter, Henley Pyle of Morton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Connie Selburg.
Rob worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 42 years before retiring in 2015. He worked in Mossville in the factory and later in East Peoria in the office where he taught blue print reading.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 46 and 263 in Peoria where he was a worshipful Master.
A loving and kind man, Rob thought the world of his kids. He was a fabulous cook and was known for his cherry pie and making up his own recipes. He loved history and enjoyed watching Civil War reenactments and going to the Lincoln Museum. He also loved doing research on his ancestry.
An avid Chicago Bears fan, he enjoyed watching the Chicago Cub, doing woodworking and watching T.V.
He attended United Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Inurnment will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin at a later date.
