He was born on September 12, 1935 in Peoria, the son of Andrew Elmer and Martha (Russell) Moser. His mother died when he was 9 months old and he was later adopted by Elva Mae (Paddock) Moser. He married Patricia Ann White on June 7, 1958 at Morton United Methodist Church by Rev. Richard Stolp.
Surviving are his wife; two sons Jeffery (Leigh Ann) Moser of Tomball, Texas and Douglas (Lori) Moser of Canton; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Matthew, and Samantha, all of Tomball, and Andrew, Justin, Mallory and Ryleigh, all of Canton; and one great-granddaughter, Lainey Elizabeth Moser of Canton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Noah and Elizabeth Moser, and several aunts and uncles, all of Morton and Peoria.
Bob was a 1953 graduate of Morton High School. He then worked at the Libby Canning Factory and Caterpillar before enlisting in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
While serving in the USAF, he was stationed in Texas, California, Florida during the Cuban Crisis, Mississippi, the Philippines and in Turkey monitoring Russian movements. He retired after 21 years with the rank of Technical Sergeant. He settled in Pekin working at Pekin Community High School and Centel for 9 years.
Bob moved to Tampa and Gulfport, Florida to care for ailing parents for20 years and worked at Burdines and Publix, retiring to Pekin in 2004.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, YAMS Sunday School Class, Tazewell County Genealogical Society, and the Tazewell County Historic Places Museum & Education Center.
Bob loved golfing and was a member of the Monday Morning Seniors Group at Parkview. His 1 hole-in-one was on the 6th hole at Parkview Golf Course. He enjoyed gardening, country music and going to NASCAR and NHRA races with his sons and grandchildren.
Bob was a tower of strength to his wife Pat as she cared for her ailing father, Harold and later for her mother Ruth with Alzheimer’s for eight years while living in Florida. He was nurse and caregiver to Pat as she underwent shoulder and knee surgeries.
The family wishes to thank OSF and Pekin Hospitals and especially Dr. Siebert, Dr. Klopfenstein and Dr. Gomez, Kyle’s Home Care, Pekin Manor Bounce Back Unit, Harbor Light Hospice, Preston-Hanley Funeral Home and Grace United Methodist Church for the loving care given to all in the family.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2013 at Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin, where visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. Gary Ford will officiate. Burial of cremated remains will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in Morton, where military rites will be accorded.
