Born July 27, 1927 in Pekin to Orval Clinton and Bessie (Belser) Evans, he married Ruth Maxine Burrus on December 24, 1947 in Pekin. She died May 3, 2009 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister and two half-brothers.
Surviving are three sons, Daniel (Deborah) Evans of Palos Hills, Timothy (Debbie) Evans and Christopher Evans, both of Pekin; one daughter, Diane (William) Moore of Shelbyville, Indiana; six grandchildren, Nichole Evans of Urbana, Tim (Sarah) Evans, Jr. of Pekin, Elizabeth (Ben) Stanson, David Evans, both of Palos Hills, Ben (Jill) Moore of Shelbyville, Indiana and Rebekah (Corey) Thomas of Indianapolis, Indiana; and half-sister, Rosemary Cobb of Mississippi.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Robert worked for Corn Products Company as a mechanic, retiring in 1989 from Pekin Energy with 46 years of service.
Robert was a member of Pekin Bible Church. He enjoyed woodworking.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Chad Nightingale will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
