Born November 30, 1930 in Streator to Arthur and Edna (Clifford) Kellogg, she married Willis Eugene Windish on April 21, 1956 in Pekin. He died August 13, 2010 in Peoria Heights. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ralph Kellogg, James Earl Kellogg, and Arthur Clifford Kellogg; and one sister, Grace Kellogg.
Surviving are two sons, John (Kim) Windish of Pekin and David Windish of Tucson, Arizona; four daughters, Joy Windish of Saint Peters, Missouri, Karen Sipes of Sealy, Texas, Mary Broderick of Brookline, Massachusetts, and Rita Windish of Peoria; seven grandchildren; Taren Windish, Kailey Windish, Drew Windish, Ryan Windish, Brenna Windish, Kristen Windish, and Gharett Broderick; one brother, Robert Kellogg of Costa Mesa, California;one sister, Helen Swisher of Yoba Linda, California; and several nieces and nephews.
Rita had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. and where she later met her future husband, Willis. After their marriage, she stayed home to raise their family.
She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, and its Catholic Council of Women, the Resurrection Choir, and was a former member of the Adult Choir.
Rita enjoyed crafts, visiting with her family and friends, and spending the winters in Phoenix, Arizona. She had volunteered with 4-H.
Her funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
